FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY 

Fiscal responsibility is vital to ensuring that Newtown prospers.  This includes not only tax issues, but also how the state spends your hard earned dollars and how it creates new opportunities in order to reduce the burden on taxpayers to fund town spending.  This will be Chris' number one priority in Hartford

As your State Representative, Chris LaRocque will strive to:

1. Help control state spending to ensure tax payer dollars are not wasted - "not spending what we don't have"

2. Help reduce the massive state debt through more efficient government

3. Use your tax dollars more effectively - "smarter government"

4. Fight to end taxpayer support of politicians and their campaigns

 

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and in Connecticut, make up 97% of all business.  It is in our best interest to help small business owners and employees cope with rising costs and lower revenues and to do so quickly. Newtown's small businesses need help from unusually high taxes and hindrances to growth.

As your State Representative, Chris LaRocque will strive to:

1. Look into creative ways to reduce the tax burden on small businesses in Newtown (business entity tax changes for example)

2. Hold quarterly small business roundtables with Newtown business leaders to allow their voice to be heard

 

EDUCATION

When Chris attended Newtown High School it was honored as having achieved the prestigious Blue Ribbon Status.  Since that time, our schools have not continued to grow to their full potential.  Ensuring that the Newtown School System is a place that all students can grow and develop is Chris’ mission and is central to his platform.  Without the proper facilities, space, and support, growth and development will be hindered.  Chris LaRocque will work hard every day to accomplish these important tasks.

As your State Representative, Chris LaRocque will strive to:

1. Support the funding and completion of the upcoming high school expansion
2. Advocate for strong funding from the state for Newtown schools

3. Help reduce unfunded mandates that cripple our education system

 

STRONG and SUPPORTIVE FAMILIES

Newtown needs to support all its families.  Whether it is a lack of after-school programming for children or affordable housing for our senior citizens, fostering strong and supportive families is extremely important to the growth of our community.  Chris is fortunate to have an amazing family and knows how lucky he is to have the support he needs to be successful.  It is his mission to support those that do not have the luxuries that others do and is open and committed to determining the best ways to develop the tools necessary for supporting Newtown’s families.

As your State Representative, Chris LaRocque will strive to:

1. Ensure that children and families are provided appropriate resources from the State of Connecticut

Newtown’s elected officials are in office to represent your best interests.  Chris LaRocque will work hard to listen to you and respond to your questions and concerns as quickly as possible.  It is important that our elected officials are as open and communicative as possible in order to allow its electors to understand the decisions that are made.

As your State Representative, Chris LaRocque will strive to:

1. Spend your tax dollars wisely
2. Listen closely and respond to citizens' questions in a timely manner
3. Hold public forums for greater communication
